Ceramic Arts
WHEEL/ THROWING 1 For beginning pottery students or those continuing to build their skills on the potter’s wheel. New students will learn wheel throwing basics as well as glazing & firing techniques. Students with experience will learn to develop their skills by working on various forms, glazing & firing techniques. WHEEL/ THROWING 2 This course is suitable for pottery students with prior throwing experience who can independently and consistently throw a vessel over 4 inches in height. Study form and function while making vessels with handles, knobs, lids and alterations. KIDS CERAMICS Get you hands dirty with clay! Through demonstrations and hands on practice you will learn the coil method, building with slabs, glazing and firing. The students will create tiles or plaques, bowls, vases and mobiles. Each piece you complete you will get to take home to enjoy. HAND BUILDING 1 This course is suitable for individuals wishing to explore hand built clay functional and non-functional objects. This is a great opportunity to explore the potential of clay and try your hand at ceramics. The course will focus on making items using coil, pinch, and slab methods. Students will make and glaze several items of their choice. Previous clay experience is not necessary. SANTA’S WORKSHOPS This hands-on “one of a kind” workshop provides participants with an exciting opportunity to create functional objects, perfect for Christmas gift-giving! Based on their interest and skill level, participants will select from a wide range of items such as trays, mugs, candleholders, and soap dishes to make and glaze. Previous clay experience would be an asset. Clay (not included in class fee) to be purchased at class for $18.00 per 20lb bag.
